Getting started with LBHA -
We are getting set up with the forum of the log home builders associate - starting to make connections, learn to use our resources, and trying like the dickens to research a borate treatment that doesn't use antifreeze....
lots of resarch, meetings, google calender the pack and extended pack people to keep this thing going as we work our way through tree-age stage!
we've got about a third of the original stack down - and the racks laid out for the remaining logs....
doesn't sound like much on paper but it's been much much much working long weekends and today the Washington monsoons started! --
here's part of the blip we posted on LBHA:
hi all!
We are just getting started... well, it's been 2 years that the logs have been on the property - and two ish years in the getting of them! So, we are 4 years in - and just getting REALLY started!
The whole pack is taking or retaking the class as we start the actual building process - Ann, Argo and Tyler took the Wallace Falls version in Dec. 2008, Ann took the old skip in his house version in the late 90's, Ann and Nathan retook and took first time respectively in Vegas this sept.
More info will be put onto the site as writing time permits - but in short... we got the logs - yep! on the homestead act - yep! for real - approx 350 "house-logs" - for $900 in permits... and about $12,000 ish ish for the 7 logs trucks, skidding & landing, and delivery from Winthrop WA to Graham WA in one convey and with a self loader....
you can see the first "rack" in an aerial photo on our Tamarack den blog!
We will be writing more soon - but at least here is a start!
